The Seeker DeepScope Rig attaches to your Seeker Marine Kit to provide stable, clear underwater viewing and recording at depth. Follow this guide to mount, deploy, and operate your rig safely for the best results.
1. Mount your Seeker and camera
With your camera secured in its waterproof case and mounted on the Seeker, attach the Seeker to the adjustable camera mount on the DeepScope Rig. Set the desired viewing angle (up, down, front, or back) and use the supplied Allen key to tighten firmly in position.
2. Secure the cable
Weave the Media Cable in and out of the black cable fastener โ under, over, and under again. Leave a small amount of slack between the Seeker and the fastener to prevent the cable from pulling on the Seeker during operation.
3. Deploy the rig
Deploy the DeepScope Rig with the engine off or while drifting. Once you reach the desired depth, lock the cable at the surface using the green cable fastener attached to a rail or cleat.
4. Operating speed
The DeepScope Rig is designed for use while drifting or when towed at speeds up to 3 knots.
Monitor the live view at all times
Always keep the live view open on your phone or tablet while operating the DeepScope Rig. This ensures you can immediately adjust depth or retrieve the rig if it approaches obstacles, the seafloor, or marine life.
Maintain steady speed
For best results, operate at a consistent speed between 0.5 and 1 knot. Slower speeds deliver sharper, more detailed footage with minimal disturbance to sediment or marine life.
Adjust for visibility
In darker or deeper water, use Seavu Video Lights to illuminate the scene and maintain colour accuracy. For bright, shallow conditions, reduce lighting intensity to prevent glare or overexposure.
Optimise camera angle
Experiment with the mount angle to achieve the desired perspective โ whether facing forward, down, or slightly back. Start level, then fine-tune once live footage confirms your framing.
Stay aware of conditions
Currents, wind, and swell can all affect stability. If visibility decreases or line tension fluctuates, reduce speed or pause towing until conditions improve.
