Video Output Options

Video Capture Card (4k)

Only required if you’re connecting your Explorer+ Kit to a computer.

A video capture card enables high-quality livestreaming and recording to a computer via software like OBS, Zoom, VLC, or QuickTime.

Use your own (must support USB 3.0, 4K input, and 4K recording), or add this compact, premium-grade 4K Video Capture Card with USB-A and USB-C connections.

For professional workflows, the HDMI signal can also be connected directly to video switchers (such as the Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro) or HDMI to SDI converters (like the Blackmagic Micro Converter) — no capture card required in these setups

Cables and Splitters

Direct Connection
The included DisplayPort HDMI Adapter connects to your TV, monitor, selected chartplotters, or video capture card.

Extended Viewing Distance
Add a HDMI 2.1 fibre-optic cable for long-distance runs — uncompressed 4K video with minimal signal loss.

Multiple Screens
Use an HDMI splitter to display footage on multiple screens without reducing quality. Requires 5W or higher USB-C charger, not included.

Wireless Option
Wireless HDMI systems (like the Hollyland Pyro H 4K) offer cable-free viewing with great range and image quality. While we don’t offer these, they’re a convenient option — though they may introduce slight latency. Fibre-optic remains the most reliable for real-time monitoring.

Camera Power Supply
Use a USB-C charger and cable to power the DisplayPort HDMI Adapter. Add our extra-long 5m PD charging cable if your power source is set back from the water’s edge.

Power Requirements

  • HDMI Splitter
    • Requires a basic USB-C charger (5V/1A or 5W+)
    • Most standard phone or tablet chargers will work
  • DisplayPort HDMI Adapter + Camera
    • Use a 45W+ GaN USB-C PD charger for stable power
    • Pair with a 60W or 100W-rated USB-C cable
    • On boats, a 12V USB-C PD charger or portable power station works well
    • Avoid chargers under 45W — they may not deliver consistent power and could drain your battery

Charge Cable

To power your camera during operation, you’ll need a USB-C charger and cable to supply power to the DisplayPort HDMI Adapter.

Use your own, or add this extra-long PD charging cable — ideal for setups where the power source is set back from the water’s edge.

Power Tips:

  • Use a 45W or higher GaN USB-C PD charger and a 60W or 100W-rated USB-C cable from a reputable brand.
  • For boats, a 12V USB-C charger or portable power station works well.
  • Avoid chargers lower than 45W— they may not keep up, and your battery could slowly drain.
